Kingdom is a bold new wildlife drama chronicling the emotional, real-life story of four charismatic African animal families, all sharing the same crowded paradise – the beautiful and ever-changing Luangwa Valley in Zambia.

I was brought on by BBC Studios Creative to be part of the creative team in a multi faceted role, being involved in the creative ideation before then leading and developing the art direction and design of the key art culminating in the final retouch.

Objective:

Create an exciting, engaging key art image that immerses audiences in the emotional and epic real-life stories of four charismatic African animal families sharing a crowded paradise.

Deliver an image that showcases the premium nature of this title.

Creative & Concept:

After exploring a range of concepts and themes we landed on the idea of ‘Interconnected Lives’. Through a bold, singled minded proposition we placed the animal cast upfront and centred. Playing with size, scale and layering we reference the interconnected lives of these animals and their battle within the animal kingdom hierarchy.

From the intertwined tiny wild dog pup to the adult hyena and lion we emphasised the series’ focus on stories and emotional narrative through our choice of selects and multi layered composition.
